About us ....................
Sri Lanka Social Security Board has been established by an Act.No. 17 of 1996 dated 26th July 1996, by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, subsequently the original Act amended by Act No. 33 of 1999. To establish pensions and social security benefits for those engaged in, self be employment, informal sector, and other non government pensionable sector.

Mission –
Formulating, Executing and regulating provisions and policies aligned to practices of good governance to ensure social security of Sri Lankan citizens strengthening the economy and protecting cultural values, incorporating strategic alliance with government and non-governmental organizations towards sustainable development for a dignified nation.
Objectives -
- To provide social security to self employed persons during their old age and disability.
- To provide relief to the dependants of self employed persons upon death,
- To encourage self employed persons to continue in their respective occupations and to develop their capabiliyities and skills
- To encourage youth to be self employed and to develop their capabilities and skills
- To educate self employed persons on the benificts of thift and resource management
- To improve the living standerds of self employed persons generally

Age 0 - 17 |
⁃ A sum of 50% from agreed monthly pensions when succeed in grade 5 scholarship exam completing with minimum district level marks. ⁃ Similar amount of already agreed monthly pensions be paid while being successful at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination passing all subjects with distinction for five subjects. ⁃ Premiums should be paid only upto completion 17 of years, will be transferred to “”Surakuma”” elders scheme after reaching at at 18 years. Contributors will be paid monthly pensions from the age of 60 years,As an additional benefit prior to receiving pensions, actions being taken to awarding of partially disabled benefit, permanent disabled benefit and death gratuity. |

Age 18 - 59 |
⁃ Monthly pensions for the life time from the age of 60 years. ⁃ If the contributor died as a pensioner before completing the age of 80 years. o Monthly pension for the spouse if stay alive. o If there is no spouse , monthly pension would be paid to a nominee or a dependant of the contributor until the pensioner completes the age of 80 years. ⁃ If befallen in to a permanent disability prior to the age of 60 years, a benefit according to the age and life time pension from the age of 60 yeras would be paid upon monthy premiums being duly paid. ⁃ Outright gratuity for dependants be paid if the contributor dies prior to the receipt of pensions. |

⁃ Monthly pensions from the age of 60 years for life time. ⁃ Allowance given by the patronage of the Department of Cultural Affairs along with the first pension. ⁃ If the member dies as a pensioner prior to the age of 80 years, his/her spouse will be paid the pension until completion of 80 years. ⁃ If befallen to a permanent disability prior to age of 60 yeras, gratuity according to the age and net contribution amount or monthly pension will be paid for life time from the day befallen to permanent disability. ⁃ If the member dies prior to the pension being paid, outright pensions gratuity would be paid for dependants, ⁃ If the member dies , while receiving the pension without a spouse or nominee, the net contribution ampount depositted in the name of the pensioner and the interest could be received by his/her heirs. |
